Advanced Seating Assessment and Prescription

Our ‘Advanced Seating Assessment and Prescription’ workshop has been designed to enhance your clinical practice so you can confidently navigate the complexities of seating assessment and prescription.

Led by industry-respected clinicians, join Kate Pain (GTK) and the GTK team as they share invaluable insights into the assessment and prescription of seating, drawing from their extensive clinical backgrounds.

We’ll also have numerous opportunities for practical, hands-on exploration of seating and positioning equipment.

When: Tuesday 21st April, 9am to 3.30pm

Where: GTK Brisbane

Foundations of Seating Assessment

Join us for a comprehensive wheelchair seating assessment education event, designed for allied health professionals new to seating and assistive technology prescription.

This hands-on workshop will cover up-to-date best practice in assessing and recommending wheelchair seating options. Learn how to properly evaluate postural needs, functional abilities, and lifestyle factors to confidently prescribe seating and positioning products.

When: Thursday 23rd April, 9am to 4pm

Where: GTK Sydney
Postural Management and Product Selection Concepts

In wheelchair seating, the transition from clinical assessment to a finished build requires a clear understanding of biomechanical drivers and proper matching of presentation to product and prescription.

Join Rolapal and GTK for a practical clinical session focused on identified drivers of postural asymmetry at the Pelvis. We will review the concepts required to translate assessment findings into stable, supportive seating systems for both reducible and fixed postures.

When: Thursday 30th April, 10am to 12.30pm

Where: GTK Ballina

Growing Into Movement: Advancing On Time and Independent Mobility for Children

Independent mobility is one of the strongest drivers of childhood development, shaping how children play, explore, communicate, and build relationships. For children with physical disabilities, timely access to mobility- whether through manual wheelchairs or powered mobility, plays a critical role in ensuring they develop alongside their peers.

This session explores current evidence and best practice in supporting on time mobility across infancy, childhood, and early adolescence. We will examine how introducing powered mobility at an early age can amplify cognitive, physical, and social development. We will also explore how shifting away from outdated “readiness” models enables children to learn through exploration rather than waiting for skills they can only develop by moving. Alongside powered mobility, we will provide practical strategies for teaching foundational manual wheelchair skills, promoting efficient propulsion, and supporting safe independence at home, school, and in community environments.

When: Tuesday 2nd June, 9am to 12pm

Where: GTK Melbourne

Optimising Mobility Through Advanced Power Wheelchair Programming

Modern power wheelchairs offer increasingly sophisticated programming capabilities that can significantly enhance functional independence, safety, and user experience when applied with thoughtful clinical reasoning. While hardware configuration remains essential, advanced software programming including memory seating functions, drive profile optimisation, joystick tuning, and alternative control setup plays an equally critical role in enabling users to achieve precise, efficient, and personalised mobility outcomes.

This session explores the clinical considerations underpinning advanced programming for complex mobility needs. We will examine how memory seating functions can support posture, pressure management, functional access, and routine efficiency. Drive settings such as acceleration curves, torque limits, turning speeds, and terrain specific profiles will be discussed in relation to user skill, cognitive load, environmental demands, and safety.

When: Tuesday 2nd June, 1pm to 4pm
