Power Assist Devices

Type of Power Assist Device

A power assist device is a motorised device that can be attached to your manual wheelchair. The primary purpose of a power assist device is to allow the wheelchair user to propel with less energy expenditure. If you’ve ever struggled to push up a steep slope, had trouble getting across grass or have wrist and shoulder pain, a power assist device might be just what you need.

Power assist devices can be in the form of an aftermarket attachment that fits onto the rear or front of your wheelchair, or a pushrim activated wheel assembly. GTK can help you determine which type of power assist would best suit your needs.
