Over the course of the morning we will cover the fundamentals of power wheelchair prescription.
We will discuss the benefits and considerations for why you might choose a particular drive wheel configuration over another, and look at how power seat functions can enable independence and participation for wheelchair users. To wrap up the theoretical part of the morning, we will present real life case studies to discuss and apply all of our learnings from the day.
We will end the morning with the opportunity to drive different power wheelchairs, explore their functions and get some practical experience!
By the end of the workshop, we will have learned:
- To identify when it is appropriate to prescribe a power wheelchair.
- To identify and understand the benefits of each drive wheel configuration.
- To understand the benefits of each power seat function and why these might be reasonable or necessary to a wheelchair user.
Refreshments and morning tea will be provided, and attendees will receive their choice of a GTK backpack or toolkit.
