Prescribing power wheelchairs can seem overwhelming and complex. This learning day will break down the considerations and options for your client’s abilities, goals and environment. When is the base package the most suitable choice? When do you need to add in power functions and options. We’ll be discussing all this and more, as well as having an opportunity to put theory into practice on a range of power wheelchairs.
At the completion of this learning day, you will understand:
✦ The information required for a successful trial
✦ The pros and cons of each wheelchair base type (Front/Mid/Rear Wheel Drive)
✦ When power seating functions are truly necessary
✦ When features such as motor size, suspension type, tracking stabilisation and electronic wheel lock are necessary rather than desirable
✦ The interaction between seating and power positioning features
✦ Positioning for function and control of power chair
✦ What joystick options might best suit your client.
