Before joining the GTK team, Lynette had a background in exercise rehabilitation and worked as a Technical Product Specialist for Allied Medical in New Zealand. In this role, Lynette focused on complex wheelchairs, seating solutions, and paediatric mobility. This experience instilled a deep understanding of the intricacies of assistive technology and how it can empower people to pursue their goals and passions.
What excites Lynette most about assistive technology prescription is the opportunity to witness the transformative impact it can have on individuals’ lives. She says that there’s nothing quite like seeing the joy on a client’s face when they can engage in activities they love – ‘I love seeing a smile!’. Reflecting on one memorable experiences, Lynette recalls when she had the privilege of delivering a power wheelchair to a client who had been unable to leave their house independently for years. Through some careful tweaking to the setup of his power wheelchair, the client was able to venture outdoors independently and place his feet on the grass, making a very special moment for both the client and their family.
Outside of work, Lynette has a passion for horse riding, where she competes in Show Jumping events with her own horse.
