Rifton Compass Chair
The Rifton Compass Chair is ideal for promoting diversity, and suitable for use both inside the classroom, and at home. It allows people who are living with a disability or impairment to feel safe, comfortable and engaged, and it has a basic and elegant design that fits into any setting.
It has a curved seat, high armrests that are ideal for added support, as well as lateral thigh support – all of which help to establish boundaries on a sensory level. With ultimate stability, particularly in the feet, this chair is particularly suited to people who are prone to tipping their chair. The chair allows those with vestibular or tactile hyposensitivity to engage in movement that adheres to their sensory-seeking behaviour, with the chair built and tested to resist rocking motions.
The Compass Chair can come with lateral supports which assists those with autism, providing sensory security, and the armrests and elevated edges create comfortable sitting with physical bounds. The chair has adjustable legs that allow for ideal placement, allowing you to shorten the back legs for additional recline, or you can reduce the length of the front legs to create a forward tilt that assists with postural control while sitting. The armrests are designed to support upper body weight, helping with transfers, while the legs allow fine tuning of the seat height, as mentioned.
The Compass Chair includes a seatbelt for safety and postural support, and this is removable. There are five sizes available, suiting everyone from toddlers to adults. The seat and back have non-slip material and support and sensory accessories are also available.
The Rifton Compass Chair is available in five sizes. Size 1 is suitable for users 91cm – 109cm, Size 2 is for 109cm – 122cm, Size 3 is 122cm – 140cm, Size 4 is suited for 140cm – 160cm and Size 5 is best for those over 160cm tall. The legs provide a height adjustment of 5cm and there’s an optional seat belt available.
