Jay Fusion Cushion
The Jay Fusion is a an adjustable contoured foam base with a rear well available with a gel or Roho air insert. It is available with positioning pieces and reduced profile if needed, to reduce the cushion height by 5/8” when seat to floor height is important. With its top layer of memory foam, users find it very comfortable. Also available in custom sizes and fluid pad volume. The dual cover system provides an extra layer of protection for the foam.
The Jay Fusion is also available with Cryo Fluid technology, a fluid option that excels at reducing the risk of pressure injuries. The patented Cryo Fluid provides more options for skin protection. It actively cools the seated skin surface for up to 8 hours (internal testing data at 25° C) while evenly distributing pressure, reducing shear, and lowering the risk of moisture.
Features:
Multi-layered, contoured foam base
The Jay Fusion features a contoured foam based constructed from closed cell foam. Additional positioning is provided by the soft, contoured top layer creating a truely adjustable cushion. Its femoral transition and rear wall help prevent fluid migration while gently supporting the trochanters and posterior pelvis.Variable Pelvic Loading Area
The width of the Fusion’s Pelvic Loading Area is determined by using the average pelvic bone measurements of users of each cushion width. This accommodates the vast majority of individuals, offering forward and lateral stability for proper positioning and optimal immersion and weight distribution to protect the skin from breakdown.JAY Flow™ Fluid or Air Inserts
The Fusion can be ordered with JAY Flow fluid or Air inserts, which conform to each individual’s shape, adjust to sitting positions and ensure proper fluid placement beneath boney prominences to help protect the skin from breakdown. The fluid pad’s minimum maintenance design delivers superior results for the life of the cushion. The air levels may be adjusted in the field to accommodate asymmetrical postures and changing needs.
Innovative dual-cover design
For convenience and protection, the Fusion wheelchair pressure cushion features a dual-cover system. The inner cover is water-resistant and easy to wipe off and clean, while its Aqua-guard zipper and anti-wicking thread protect the foam base from fluids. The machine-washable, stretch outer cover reduces surface tension and utilizes naturally anti-microbial, silver-impregnated Ionic+™ fiber. A layer of 3DX spacer fabric dissipates heat and moisture for additional skin protection.Available with Cryo Technology
With traditional cushions on the market today, seated skin surface temperatures can rise to 37°C, leading to an increased risk in skin breakdown. Lowering the skin’s temperature as little as 1°C can reduce the risk of skin breakdown significantly.
The Cryo Fluid was engineered to mildly cool the skin within a therapeutic temperature range of 28°C to 35°C, effectively lowering the risk of skin breakdown. The cooler skin surface temperature has the added benefit of reducing the likelihood of moisture associated with localised perspiration.
Cryo Fluid features millions of microbeads filled with paraffin wax which melts at a set temperature. Because skin temperature is warmer than the ambient temperature of the Cryo Fluid, heat from the skin is actively transferred into the fluid. This results in a lowering of the seated skin temperature within therapeutic range.
