Rifton TRAM

The Rifton TRAM is a transfer and mobility device that combines gait training, sit-to-stand transfers, and seated transfers into a single compact item. It has been built with the user’s safety in mind, and the design is focused on convenience and dignity.

The TRAM frame is lightweight and easy to operate, particularly in confined environments. It has easy to use controls and adjustments, and the body support system limits the amount of lifting carers need to do themselves, lowering the risk of injury or back pain. The TRAM has a strong battery that can deliver more than 70 lifts on a single charge and it has a built in scale so you can weigh the user while making transfers, if necessary.

The TRAM is an innovative, patented support system that secures the user with a simple buckle, and there are no slings and little preparation. It features a built-in up and down switch that is incorporated into the right steering handle; and it has a meticulously built telescoping lift column, which gives users the security and dignity of unimpeded eye contact with their carers and surroundings.

The TRAM can be elevated to a height of 193cm and is suitable for people up to 159 kilograms. It can also be lowered for compact storage and will easily fit through a doorway up to 71cm wide.

Rifton TRAM - body support system
Body Support System

The TRAM features an innovative support system that secures the user using two back belts with safety buckles. This enables the carer to prepare the user quickly for a safe transfer. Unlike other transfer devices, the TRAM has no slings and requires little or no preparation to transfer users.

Rifton TRAM - optional scale
Optional Scale

The TRAM’s optional scale allows the caregiver to weigh a user easily during transfer, as well as to measure weight-bearing capability and progress, during supported ambulation.

Rifton TRAM - up and down switch
Built-in up and down switch

Raise and lower the TRAM using the single button built into the right steering handle. When the TRAM is being used as a sit-to-stand device, the carer can pull back on the handle to help raise the user.

Rifton TRAM - colour coded clips
Colour Coded Clips

Carers can quickly hook the metal rings into one of the TRAM’s four color-coded clips. The clips have been color-coded for positive identification in written protocols.

Rifton TRAM - low base option
Low Base Option

The low base option that has a 3″ caster and a lower frame base than the standard Rifton TRAM, and it slides under mattresses with as little as 10.7cm clearance. This alternative was created for situations where the normal TRAM would be impractical for storage, such as under hospital beds.

Rifton TRAM - telescoping lift column
Telescoping Lift System

The carefully engineered telescoping lift column gives the TRAM its low profile, providing users with the security and dignity of unobstructed eye contact with their carers and surroundings. The TRAM can be raised high enough to support a 193cm walking client and then retract down for compact storage.

Rifton TRAM - expanding legs
Expanding Legs

Compact and low-profile, the TRAM can pass through a 71cm doorway with ease. Transfer in and out of wider wheelchairs by rotating the leg expander. Lockable front casters make the TRAM a mobile yet secure piece of patient transfer equipment.
